The Civil Service Ambassador Award was established in the late 1990’s by the New York State Department of Civil Service to recognize the contributions of local civil service professionals responsible for administering the merit system in local government. The award is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to public service and for their continued dedication to the principles of merit and fitness in both their community and in support of the Department.
The recipient of this year’s award was our most recent President, Beth Mortas, from Onondaga County!
Beth started her civil service career with Cortland County in 2001. She eventually accepted an opportunity with Onondaga County in 2010 where she has remained ever since. Beth recently completed her term serving as the President for our Association from 2022 to 2024. Her commitment to the principles of Merit and Fitness and the effective and efficient administration of the merit system within her county gave her this recognition that is well deserved!
Congratulations, Beth! We are proud of you!
