Member Spotlight: Tracy Augello

Tracy Augello is a seasoned human resources professional whose career reflects adaptability, continuous learning, and a deep commitment to public service.

Tracy has been married for 27 years and is the proud parent of two daughters, along with two beloved dogs. Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, she has called Genesee County home for the past 22 years. With a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management and 30 years of experience in HR-related roles, Tracy brings a wealth of knowledge shaped by work across the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.

In 2022, Tracy joined Genesee County as the Deputy Human Resources Director, where she plays a key role in supporting county operations and workforce initiatives. She is also an active member of the Genesee County Professional Association, staying engaged with peers and contributing to the broader HR community.

One of Tracy’s proudest professional accomplishments is her ability to pivot and grow throughout her career. Having experience across multiple sectors, she believes this diversity has helped her become a more well-rounded and effective professional. The skill she values most is leadership adaptability, noting that learning never stops and that there is always something to gain from one another.

For those new to civil service, Tracy offers thoughtful advice: “Be patient with yourself. It is nearly impossible to become an expert in a short period of time. When in doubt, read!” Her guidance reflects both humility and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Looking ahead, Tracy is optimistic about the future of civil service. She is encouraged by the ongoing transformation of the exam and recruitment process, noting that traditional exams often did not align with job duties or support active talent recruitment. She welcomes these changes and is excited to see how they shape the workforce moving forward.

Outside of work, Tracy treasures time with her family. As her daughters have grown into adulthood with college and careers of their own, she and her family cherish every opportunity to be together. She also enjoys cooking, which she finds both relaxing and therapeutic.

Thank you, Tracy, for your dedication to public service and for being an engaged and valued member of NYSAPCSO!
